Facelift in Lausanne

Restore firmness and youthfulness to your face with our facelift treatment in Lausanne

Face and neck lift

Do you dream of looking 10 years younger? A facelift is the leading cosmetic surgery procedure for giving your face a real “facelift”.

There are actually different facelifts: forehead lift, temporal lift, cervico-facial lift.

But the objective is always the same: to reposition tissues to rejuvenate your face overall.

A facelift simultaneously treats several symptoms of aging, such as deep wrinkles, jowls, sagging skin on the neck and cheeks, nasolabial folds (extending from the nose to the corners of the mouth) and forehead furrows. It can also improve definition of the jawline and chin.

In addition to the full facelift, there are other variations of this procedure, such as the mini-lift or neck lift, which target specific areas of the face. Some people may also choose to combine a facelift with other aesthetic procedures, such as blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), botulinum toxin or hyaluronic acid injections, lasers, etc. to achieve more complete results.

The different facelift techniques

Depending on your situation and objectives, your surgeon may suggest different face-lift variants. Each technique aims to treat sagging skin, redefine the oval of the face and restore a more toned appearance.

Cervico-facial lift

This is the most common and comprehensive cosmetic surgery procedure. It involves incisions along the hairline, around the ears and possibly under the chin.

In this way, the surgeon can access the deeper layers and muscles, reposition the skin, tighten it and eliminate any excess present. This technique treats both face and neck, offering a global and harmonious correction. Scars are discreetly placed for a natural look.

Neck lift

Also known as the lower cervico-facial lift, this procedure specifically targets sagging skin in the neck and lower jaw.

Incisions are usually made under the chin, allowing access to the neck muscles and tissues for tightening and contouring. This treatment is often recommended for our patients with excess skin under the chin or loss of jawline definition.

Forehead lift

The forehead lift acts on the forehead and eyebrow area to smooth wrinkles and open up the eyes.

Incisions are made along the hairline or inside the scalp, allowing tissues to be repositioned without leaving visible scars. This treatment is particularly indicated for those wishing to reduce the signs of ageing on the upper face.

Temporal facelift

As its name suggests, this facelift targets the temple and eyebrow area.

Incisions are concealed at the temples, raising the eyebrows and smoothing wrinkles in this specific area.

Alternatives to facelift surgery

Aesthetic medicine now offers non-surgical facelift techniques for patients who prefer a moderate procedure or wish to avoid surgery and anesthesia.

Tensor threads, Infrared (Titan), Ultrasound (Ultherapy), Face Tite, etc.

Questions and answers about facelifts

Lift procedure

Before the operation

An initial consultation is essential to take stock of your situation and expectations, and to establish the basis for a relationship of trust with your surgeon. Your surgeon will explain the advantages of the different facelift options, and may suggest combining different techniques to achieve the best possible result.

During the operation

The facelift is performed under general or local anesthesia with sedation.

The plastic surgeon makes several incisions in strategic areas to conceal them as much as possible: around the temples, ears and possibly the chin. These incisions allow access to the deeper layers of skin and underlying tissue. If necessary, muscles can also be tightened.

The surgeon will then reposition and tighten the tissues to correct sagging and loosening of the skin. Any excess skin is removed and the incisions closed with sutures or surgical staples.

Facelifts for men have a few specific features. The skin is often thicker, areas of hair may shift slightly, and a thinner head of hair is less likely to hide scars.

Post-operative care

After the operation, your face will be wrapped in a light bandage to protect the treated areas and promote healing. Drains can be placed to evacuate temporarily accumulated excess fluid.

After the operation, you will be monitored in the recovery room for some time before being allowed to go home.

It is essential to carefully follow the post-operative instructions given by your surgeon to promote optimal healing and achieve the best possible results.

The scars are concealed in the front and back by the hair. The only slightly visible area, in front of the earlobe, can be temporarily camouflaged with a suitable hairstyle or make-up.

Healing and results

The results of a facelift are generally not immediately visible after the operation.

In the first few days after the operation, your face will probably be swollen and you may experience some bruising. These effects are common and gradually fade over time. You’ll notice a significant reduction in swelling and bruising after the first week.

Results appear gradually. Facial tissues stabilize and settle into their new position over the first few weeks and months. You’ll notice a visible improvement in skin sagging, wrinkles and firmness over time. During this healing phase, LPG Endermolgie treatments may be recommended to prevent adhesions and promote the recovery process.

The final result of a facelift can be appreciated within 3 to 6 months of the operation. However, these times may vary from patient to patient.
